Turning steps into impact | Denominator global running week

At Denominator, we believe in the power of movement, not just as a path to well-being, but as a force for social impact. This June, we brought that belief to life through our Global Running Week: a worldwide initiative that united our team across countries and time zones in support of a cause that truly matters.

From June 23 to 28, Denominator employees and members of the Rwenzori Mountains Run Club (RMRC) in Uganda ran and walked together, supporting the first Rwenzori Kids Marathon.

Our kilometers weren’t just for fitness. They were for connection, community, and change.

The story behind RMRC: where courage meets the summit

The Rwenzori Mountains Run Club began as more than just a local running group. It’s the result of determination, community spirit, and one unforgettable encounter.

In late 2023, Denominator CEO Anders A. L. Rodenberg summited Mount Stanley, one of the peaks of the Rwenzori range. There, he met Sam, a local guide, runner, and survivor of war who had transformed hardship into hope. Along with six other local athletes, Sam helped found RMRC, a club dedicated to giving youth and people with disabilities access to sport, purpose, and possibility.

Despite limited resources, the RMRC runners regularly train in harsh mountain terrain — sometimes with nothing more than rubber boots and sheer determination. Their resilience is what inspired Denominator to step in with support.

Global Running Week: a celebration of movement and meaning

Last week, Denominator employees around the world laced up and moved with purpose. ‍Together with RMRC, we helped set up their very first Kid Marathon, bringing over 160 children to the start line for a memorable run.

Meanwhile, Denominator employees laced up around the world to support the initiative: From runs along the beach in USA, runs in Regent’s Park, London, runs alongside Copenhagen's Little Mermaid to the Yalova promenade in Turkey, and Luzon in the Philippines. Our team's collective movement spanned the globe a long side RMRC’s long-distance runs in Kasese, Uganda.

The result?

• Total distance covered by Denominator: 291km, 475,997 steps

• Distance collected by RMRC members: 188km + impressive number of altitude meters

• And the children? They led the way with 324km!

In total, 803km were covered!

Connected by distance. United by purpose.

This week has taught us to be connected in the distance, and inspired by a common goal. Every step taken by a Denominator team member was a step toward opportunity, equity, and brighter futures in the mountains of Uganda.

Together, we moved for something bigger.
