Climate Week NYC: cycling between meetings and AI conversations
How do you fit 17 meetings into just 3 days at Climate WeekNYC? For our CEO Anders Rodenberg, the answer was simple: Citibike. Upholding his Nordic roots, biking across Manhattan proved the fastest way to navigate between sessions and client meetings.
The week included standout events hosted by Citi, Mastercard, Salesforce at Goals House, Axios, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark together with PFA, PKA, and PensionDanmark. Conversations spanned AI, responsible investment, circularity, and the future of work.
One theme stood out: AI took center stage, with concerns about the reliability of its outcomes. As Anders Rodenberg reminded in a session back in Davos:
👉“The most powerful AI is not worth $0.02 cents if the incoming data is wrong.”
This discussion reflects a momentum that already started during Climate Week 2024, where global leaders emphasized that high-quality, unbiased data is essential for using AI in financial inclusion and sustainable innovation. Today, the focus on data quality is even stronger, positioning social and human capital data as indispensable for decision-making.
Nordic Fintech Week: future of work, AI, and the $100 trillion Great Wealth Transfer
Simultaneously in Europe, Denominator joined Nordic Fintech Week, the biggest finance and fintech conference in the Nordics, continuing our collaboration with Copenhagen Fintech. This year, Denominator took an even stronger place on stage, with our Head of External Relations &Communication, Emma Helbo, contributing two keynotes and two panels.
The discussions focused on three central topics:
- The $100 trillion Great Wealth Transfer, reshaping the future of investment.
By 2030, women are projected to control 66% of U.S. wealth, up from 33% in 2020. Millennials are set to inherit$46 trillion, marking the largest intergenerational transfer in history. Women and younger investors have different investment preferences, with more focus onlong-term security and sustainable investments. Over 90% of younger investorssay they would choose an advisor based on sustainable options. This will mean a substantial change on the investment industry. Previously this year Denominator covered the topic and key insights for investment managers to be prepared for this change.
- The future of work, where technology and human capital intersect in shaping tomorrow’s talent strategies.
- The role of AI in redefining value and driving change across finance and sustainability.
Bringing together perspectives from academia, consulting and fintech, these sessions reinforced how social data and AI are shaping both human capital management and the next economy.
Why social sustainability matters: insights from the ShareAction webinar
During Climate Week, Anders Rodenberg also joined a ShareAction webinar alongside leaders from Nest Pensions and the Institute of Directors. The discussion focused on the importance of social sustainability and human capital management for companies and investors.
Anders shared evidence on how good human capital management and diversity impacts on business outcomes.
For that he used different insights from Denominator’s research and external research, including insights such as:
- Human capital: the financial layer investors cannot ignore.
- Time off pays off: parental leave length and business outcomes.
- Retention pays off: low turnover drives performance.
The debate highlighted clear contrasts. While some U.S.firms have scaled back social sustainability initiatives under political pressure, European firms continue to strengthen their commitments. For investors, reliable social and human capital data remain crucial to evaluating long-term performance and resilience.
Looking ahead
September showed how conversations across the globe converge on the same insight: the future of sustainable business and investment relies on high-quality social data and human capital data.
At Denominator, we continue to focus on providing transparent and reliable insights so organizations can take data-driven decisions.
